Born in London, Ontario, Johnson is a self-taught pencil artist who now resides on Quadra Island, located off the northeast coast of Vancouver Island. He retired from a career in the Canadian Forces that took him to every corner of the world, but it is here on the West Coast of Canada that Kevin finds the inspiration for his works of art. He strives to create photo-realistic detail in his pieces by relying on texture and tonal values of the subjects. Johnson is a proud member of Society of Animal Artists, Artists for Conservation and enjoys giving back to nature whenever possible. Most recently Johnson was juried in as a 2016 Ducks Unlimited National Art Portfolio Member. Johnson, also an avid photographer and kayaker, hopes to convey his deep appreciation for the beauty of the natural world around him through his art.
