British Columbia’s Terry Isaac is a 30-year veteran in conservation art whose work is renown for its lifelike character. He has been named 2019 National Art Portfolio Artist of the Year for Veiled in Mist. Isaac’s lifelike portrait captures the mystery and intrigue of the grizzly in a single breath, allowing viewers into a gentle world punctuated by a struggle for survival. “Grizzly bears intrigue me,” says Isaac of his winning piece. “They can be fearsome hunters, but also gentle and playful or mysterious and elusive.” Isaac today resides in Penticton, B.C. where he regularly draws inspiration from the captivating vistas of the Northwest.
